Totara Club Matariki Project

Members of the Totara Club have been busy putting their artistic flair to work this Matariki season, with an all new artwork to celebrate the start of the Maori New Year this coming weekend.

With the Matariki star cluster just now reappearing over New Zealand skies, this weekend is a great time to reflect and plan for the second half of the year ahead. This project uses mindful colouring to symbolise that through a bit of reflection, we can all achieve positive outcomes, regardless of the challenges may lay ahead.

Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori, or Happy Matariki!

Beautiful Artwork from Totara Club Members

Totara club is a dementia day stay which is a part of Equip, Mental Health.

Men and women living with dementia can come to the club and enjoy each other’s company for the day. We do many varying activities including art. Recently, the members that came on a Tuesday completed this large painting using bok choy to stamp out the flower shapes.

This painting is now displayed in our head office. Due to our donations, we were able to buy new paints and canvas' to start a project with a group that come on a different day.
